Unexpected Hike on the Appalachian Trail

That one time I stumbled upon an unexpected hike on the Appalachian Trail.

Sounds dumb, but hear me out.

I was traveling for work on a very last minute trip (thanks Honey and Lavender Events) for a wedding in Loudon County, Virginia. I really did no research because I didn’t have much time. It was the height of busy season and I thought I’d figure it out when I got there.

As I was driving from the hotel to the rehearsal I saw a sign for the Appalachian Trail and was like whaaaat?! That’s cool! So after the rehearsal, I went back to the hotel to change and set out to explore a bit. I didn’t hike (walk) too far because I was on my own and quite frankly wholly unprepared, but I’m still glad I adventured a bit and would love to explore more of it in the future!

This is why I love traveling. You sometimes have a plan (or not) but it just takes you wherever you’re willing to let it. This is also why I love driving everywhere because you see things you never would have otherwise!

All travel is awesome, but it’s the road trip experience for me. And if you ever happen upon an unexpected hike on the Appalachian Trail, enjoy the ride!
