Dottie and Patrick’s July Athletic Club of Columbus Wedding was one of my favorite weddings of the season! I say that about every wedding, but Dottie and Patrick along with all their friends and family were just so much fun. I loved sharing the day with them. They had most of their wedding design and vendors planned, but we helped with the final stages of planning and brought everything together for the most beautiful day.
Dottie, Patrick, and I kicked off our planning over drinks and after this meeting I was even more excited to be working with them. I always love hearing what’s important to a groom and in Patrick’s case it was the spark towers for their entrance and first dance along with a Chick-Fil-A late night snack. So we made sure that happened and both things were a huge hit!
The couple exchanged gifts and Dottie got Patrick the best card inspired by the office. If you know, you know! The ceremony was a beautiful mass in the church Patrick grew up going to which was really special for their family. Following the ceremony and bubble exit, the wedding party went to the Statehouse for photos. The Statehouse is always an iconic backdrop and this time was no different. They also took some photos at their favorite bar, Short North Tavern. Fun fact: one of our August couples also love Short North Tavern and happen to be in the back of one of the photos! They had so much fun with their friends during this time that they barely took any newlywed photos! We made up for that later around ACC though with some stunning photos around the club.
The reception was stunning with florals from Madison House Designs and beautiful stationery from You’re Invited. Dottie had the fun idea to include their dog Luigi (and his backside) on each table number which was a hilarious personal touch. The guests loved it!
As mentioned, this group is just tons of fun. During cocktail hour the groomsmen took it upon themselves to play the piano and sing, and honestly they weren’t half bad! To keep the fun going, the newlyweds entered with the infamous spark towers which was really fun and made for great photos. Dottie’s dad’s speech was also one for the books. He had a puzzle created from a photo of the couple and used each piece to tell a story. As you can see by the photos, it was hilarious, sometimes horrifying, and mostly full of love!
To top off the night, the cake was a beautiful masterpiece from Le Gateau. Then it was time for the first dance with the spark towers to make it even more special. Guests danced the night away until it was time for the after party in The Booth in the ACC basement.
Cheers to the happy couple!
We loved this July Athletic Club of Columbus Wedding and even though we work at ACC a lot, it’s always a fun new adventure each time! Check out last week’s blog on another fun summer wedding.
