Audubon Center Wedding

Corrie’s mom first reached out to me last fall about planning her daughter’s Audubon Center Wedding. They didn’t need full planning, but wanted some extra help pulling the day together. Both Corrie and her mom are super efficient and had a lot of the planning done already which made my job easy! They were a dream to work with.

Getting Ready and Details

Corrie and Dennis met while he was doing contract work at her house. Eventually a romance blossomed after she called him back for some additional house projects. I love this story so much and their first dance was perfectly set to the song If I Were A Carpenter (the Johnny and June Cash version). I am always in favor of a unique first dance song and this one perfectly fit their relationship and was a crowd pleaser! Corrie’s gorgeous tea length dress made for the perfect twirl dress too!

Portraits

The couple incorporated a lot of personal elements into their day that truly showed their personalities both individually and together. Corrie is a social worker who focuses on the Latin American community. Her love of the culture led to bright, vibrant florals, beautiful paper hangings in the reception space, and even a mariachi band! Additionally, Dennis’ craftsmanship was highlighted with a beautiful ceremony arch that has been used in several family weddings. Together, they love Scrabble and used fun décor made out of “C” and “D” Scrabble pieces.

Ceremony

We had the most perfect weather day which was ideal for their outdoor ceremony and cocktail hour. Set between the trees overlooking the river, Corrie and Dennis shared their own vows with their dear friend officiating the wedding. With the beautiful arch covered in incredible florals by Blumen, the backdrop could not have been more stunning. There were also meaningful readings from the bride’s brother along with a second reading in Spanish from a close friend of the couple. It was so special to incorporate their people and different cultures into the ceremony in this way.

Reception

The mariachis were a huge hit and played perfectly for the ceremony and cocktail hour. It was such a fun experience for all of the guests! Later in the night for dancing there was music from the band Hang Time who played all the crowd favorites! Another highlight of the reception was the bride’s brother who acted as the emcee. Now, I’ll be honest, I was a bit nervous about this. Emceeing is such a crucial part of the wedding and not having a professional for this made me anxious. However, I had nothing to be worried about because he embraced the role and knocked it out of the park! Telling jokes, making plugs about different family member’s businesses and just having the perfect emcee voice worked out flawlessly and was another crowd pleasing moment.

Dancing

Corrie, Dennis, and their guests danced the night away and had the best time. We had a tight timeline in the beginning of the day to make it all come together, but once it did, everything ran smoothly thanks to a wonderful team of vendors. We couldn’t have asked for a better day for this Audubon Center wedding and I am honored to have been a part of it!
