I love all desserts, but especially cookies! These 4th of July cookies are a version of the cookies I make for Christmas and other holidays. During Covid (since I had all the time in the world) I made a 4th of July version and they are still one of my proudest culinary accomplishments!

I use this recipe for the cookies and this one for the frosting and they always turn out great! I started with circle, square and star cut outs, but you can use any shape you want! This year I got some new options and I’m excited to try them out!

Then keeping with the patriotic theme, I colored my frosting red, white and blue. I did tons of different combinations, but there really isn’t a ton of rhyme or reason, so do whatever you like!

After doing the initial frosting, I let them dry before decorating them more. I was inspired by a few different sites for how I decorated them and love all of the combinations. I’m definitely not a pro, so I kept the decorating pretty simple. It wasn’t hard, but it did require a lot of patience and time!

These 4th of July cookies are ALMOST too pretty to eat. But don’t worry, they definitely weren’t wasted! They are as delicious as they are festive!
